About product
The Asahi distillery is located on Kikai Island, a remote island in the Amami archipelago that lies between Kyushu and Okinawa, with fields of sugarcane stretching across its entire length. This is a long-aged Kokuto shochu made with sugar from the company's own farms. Since the climate of the island is also reflected in its aroma, you can detect subtle differences in flavour when you enjoy this Kokuto-Shochu, depending on the year of production. It has a deep aroma of brown sugar, dried fruit and Japanese plum with an intense spiciness and caramel notes. A slight spiciness with a hint of chilli on the palate and a long-lasting finish.
