About product
This rare Awamori from the Yamakawa distillery is aged for more than 10 years in stainless steel barrels. Its sweet, mature aroma stands out. The fine oil content gives it a creamy texture, while the ageing process brings complexity and balances the taste. A subtle sweetness and cocoa-like bitterness spread elegantly across the palate. The Yamakawa distillery is located on the island of Okinawa in Japan's southernmost prefecture. It was founded in 1946 with the aim of reviving the culture of ‘Kūsū’ – a liquor aged for at least three years. The distillery is committed to using mineral-rich water from its own water source and to ensuring that the distillation process maximises the extraction of the ingredients and minimises filtration. This Sangosho is an Awamori that has been aged for three years. Sangosho is characterised by a mild sweetness that is typical of Kūsū that has been aged for three years.
