About product
With a light scent of Kūsū (‘aged awamori’) and a subtle sweetness and complexity that is characteristic of Kūsū aged for three years. Sakura Ichiban is an awamori named after the cherry blossom festival at Yaedake—the first of the cherry blossom festivals held annually in Japan. The Yamakawa distillery is located on the island of Okinawa in Japan's southernmost prefecture. It was founded in 1946 with the aim of reviving the culture of ‘Kūsū’ – a liquor aged for at least three years. The distillery is committed to using mineral-rich water from its own water source and to ensuring that the distillation process maximises the extraction of the ingredients and minimises filtration. This Sangosho is an Awamori that has been aged for three years. Sangosho is characterised by a mild sweetness that is typical of Kūsū that has been aged for three years.
